i just moved up to the napa valley for school. it’s a year of fine dining and wine(ing).
pardon the lack of updates.
spent the weekend in the city. couldn’t resist dim sum at YANK SING.

saw phoenix last saturday night at SLIM’S. my wildest dreams came true AND la rocca (pronounced “ROCK-UH”) is your new savior. (along with phoenix.)
show review: la rocca opened with the first track to their new album, “20 something” and proceeded to produce the best sounds to be heard from wood and metal….and ireland. ever.
don’t even get me started on phoenix. played an unbelievable live show. they opened with “courtesy laughs” and continued with the rest of their new album. they played a couple tracks from united and alphabetical that were amazing. their live show is a perfect example of how a band should approach live album reproduction. nobody wants to hear the same exact shit that’s on the album. they played with beat transformation and all kinds of half-time rhythm, holding long dramatic notes and keeping us on our toes.
the french aren’t worthless. they have phoenix.

of montreal is releasing their new album (yes i’ve heard it, yes it’s stellar) it’s called, “hissing fauna, are you the destroyer” slated for an 07 release!
here’s to the good old days from their “aldhils arboretum” of the late 90’s
