This just in, a TUFTSMANIA exclusive, new Neon Coyote remix!!
The Brooklyn duo John and Will make up Neon Coyote. With a recent spot on Indie 103.1’s “NEON NOISE” with D.A.N.C.E.P.A.R.T.Y., they’re on a hot streak and here’s what they have to say about their style.
“Neon Coyote is constantly trying to make every song and mix sound different from the last. I try and listen to songs and see if they could be portrayed in a different light like with the Eluvium or Mstrkft remix, but then sometimes its just fun to pump the shit out of a track like 9H20. So no matter what, we try to keep people on their toes.” – Will
“We got a dark side, a coke rap side, a mellow side, a dirty electro side, and a kodak moment side.
And we’re trying to do it all at the same time. We’re hard working. I just wanna see people freak their stuff when they’re listening to our tunes.” – John
I’ve been in contact with these guys for a minute now, and all the things I hear coming from their magic fingers has been showing improvement, attention to detail, and completely awesome-freak-out-bangyourhead music.
Now instead of a mixtape, here are some very well thought out BARELY remixes. I call them barely remixes because they only borrow elements from the originating tracks and don’t at all resemble the tone or mood of the original artist’s intent.
SO! In this 2 part series, the first that we’ll be releasing exclusively on TUFTSMANIA….
Coyote sounds, hand claps, awesome ‘duran duran’ tom rolls. (recipe for awesome)
I will admit, the first time playing this track, I was a little skeptical after hearing it was a remix of a MSTRKRFT track (who remixes MSTRKRFT???), but I was proven wrong and have been bouncing non stop. Also repeating this track all weekend and every time I listen, there’s always another element to discover. This shit is seriously so multi-layered! It’s like Girl Talk but with more finesse. You’ll definitely feel it deep within your loins when the rhythm breaks down in the 2nd half of the song.
Honestly, I really can’t get over how much I love the handclaps. They do me so well.
Thanks Neon Coyote, you gave me techno rabies.
!!!check back tomorrow for part 2 (get ready, you will freak)!!!
Just when I’m about to forget about Paris being awesome, 25 Hours a Day (25HAD) womps me in the face. Now I’m fully aware that this track isn’t 0-day cutting edge, just released 23 seconds ago, so don’t get all elitist/new rave on me.
The fact of the matter is, Phoenix is awesome and will murder you with sound in your sleep. The same can and will be said of 25HAD. (awesome, murder, sound). For the uninformed, 25HAD is comprised of member(s) from the absolutely amazing parisian band, Fortune (awesome, murder, sound–play ‘bully’ on myspace)
So, finally onto the track previously mentioned. It’s a remix of Phoenix’ “Long Distance Call” from their most recent album, “It’s Never Been Like That” and 25HAD puts their spin on it. Making sure not to destroy the integrity of the original track, samples and cuts from the original track were repeated, sliced, and extended to make a crisp and lighter, danceable track. All the good riffs are intact from the original track, and you won’t miss a thing.
holy shit, did I just write that? wtf!!!! just listen you shits!!

summary: Paris is awesome again, 25 Hours a Day, Fortune (listen on myspace), Phoenix, sound, murder, sleep.
Mr. Miyagi is 1/2 rocker, 1/2 nerd and who would have thought such an amalgamation would create sounds like these?
Wait, it actually makes complete sense.
AGAIN!??!!! my brooklyn homieNEON COYOTE steps up once again, this time bringing the bangers in a heavy heavy fashion with a lot more variety! hard house, electro, hip hop, blah blah blah genre genre genre, fuck the genre! if it’s good it’s good!
I don’t have a lot of time because I’m leaving to study right now. So i’m just gonna say, wait till you get to the BOOTAY/surkin blend because you won’t be able to keep your clothes on. i’m just sayin.
