Remember how the inverter died on my Powerbook? Well, the hard drive finally came to a screeching halt as well.

I’m thinking about waiting to see what Jobs has to say this late October. Either way, I’ll probably get a new computer by then.

In the meantime, things may be slow around here.

R.I.P. 17″ Powerbook 2004-2008.

In remembrance, how about something from an earlier era of tuftsmania. The music on that page won’t work of course, so here’s the re-up.

The Editors - Camera (sebastiAn remix)

ps: what’s the deal with the rapid turnover rate of these things? I was expecting at least one more year out of my computer and it was taken care of quite well I might add. fuck apple.

pps: in the meantime, I’m still alive via twitter.

MSTRKRFT, Soulwax, Midnight Juggernauts… it seems like anything these guys remix has high replay value –even if the original track sucked.

Proof:

Usher - Love in this club (MSTRKRFT ‘picks up the pieces’ remix)

- The original made me break my speakers –had to go out and purchase new ones in order to listen to the MSTRKRFT remix. The remix made me feel less pissed off at the original version.

LCD Soundsystem - Get Innocuous (Soulwax ‘what they should have done’ remix)

- The original was minimal, shitty, and it put me to sleep. The Soulwax remix remains along the same vein –except it’s minimal, awesome, and keeps me awake. very important. (i’m really down with minimal, actually. Just not when it sucks.)

***CSS - Left Behind (midnight juggernauts ‘all we have to do is look at it’ remix)***

- I have only listened to CSS remixes. I am pretty sure their original tracks don’t even exist.

***the stars mean you should listen to it more than once. many times. and it’s not that shitty transcode that’s been floating around.

This is my challenge: to MSTRKRFT, Soulwax, Midnight Juggernauts, and anyone else….

MAKE KANYE WEST’S LATEST VOCODERED FUCK UP OF A TRACK UN-SUCK. Is this track not salvageable in any way?

I haven’t found one yet. I’ve heard them all up until right now so…. still no. we need some MIDAS-style touching up in here.

Roisin Murphy has forever held a place in our hearts. Why this didn’t make it to the retail album, nobody knows. But maybe because they wanted to save it for the blogs, of course.

Mindless, poppy, calvin harris production, synthyelectrodiscohouse4eva. (old lady disco).

itunes: how do YOU use it?

For soooo long I’d been reluctant in allowing iTunes to ‘take over my computer, brain, life, body’ aka: ‘organize’ my music folders. More than a year ago, I was somehow compelled to try this inbuilt feature that had been overlooked for so many years.

I selected “copy to library when adding to itunes” and “let itunes manage my music”.

This changed my life completely. No longer was I spending hours scrambling to rename, refile, and sort through folder upon folder of music files. I simply opened the file in iTunes, corrected any tags needing it, and iTunes subsequently filed the music away based on tag information.

Now with the the volume of music that I get through this website alone, it’s a task in itself keeping everything organized.
- First it’s the “I don’t give a shit about sending you a properly tagged file” problem.
- Then it’s the, “I’m going to send you every revision of my remix from beta 0.0002 to RC3 GLD MSTR CPY”.

>>>>>>>FUCK U GUYS

I also have a ’smart playlist’ for all my recently added tracks –it’s the ‘inbox’ playlist. This thing gets SO saturated and backed up with shit that there’s just no way. That’s it, just no way Jose.

Which brings me to why I even bothered to write this much: I was briefly sorting through this playlist today trying to delete bad songs, duplicates, low bitrate pieces of digital rubbish (stop sending low bitrate please), etc etc. and I came across something that nearly slipped through the cracks:

Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (turkish prison rmx) (right click, save as)

Yeah, I know it’s another Midnight Juggernauts remix, but that’s exactly it. It’s another Midnight Juggernauts remix. listen to the session-y bassline! (fucking awesome) (it seriously is so good) (totally serious)

I imported my copy of Dystopia from the AUS release, and apparently this remix came from the US domestic version as a bonus track.

Hey –Midnight Juggernauts: come play a show at my house and I’ll invite my parents and their friends!! (seriously)

ps: omggg, we’re seriously on so many social networking sites. facebook, twitter, myspace, hypem (weaksauce), last.fm. gotta add them all… LIKE POKEMON!!

DFA = Disco’s Fucking Awesome

Laid back disco is what I’ve been feeling lately. One larger label who probably reps disco the hardest these days is DFA.

I’ve been following a seasonal mixtape series that DFA’s been putting out since ‘05 and they’ve never failed to satisfy.

This one’s Spring 2008, mixed by Justin Miller (for those of you who are wondering, please do not mistake with another j. miller douchebag) and Jacques Renault -the latter of which who brings funk to the EXTREME. (more on him in a sec).

Sit back, lay back: DFA RADIO MIX SPRING 2008 (right click, save as)

Onto Jacques Renault –FUNK OUT OF CONTROL!! I can’t quantitate the level of funk in this track, but it makes me want to do gangster shit. I’d never heard of Jacques before this track, so has anyone got the dirty on this fool? Is this track a fluke? is he legit?

Jacques Renault - Bad Skinned

also, don’t forget, re-add my twitter acct. for a sexy time.
