I know many of you have heard of Keenhouse, but have you really HEARD Keenhouse? You really just need to take a second to hop onto hypem and check what he’s done. Notice that it’s ALL top notch?

As I write this post I’m listening to Keenhouse’s first EP, released last year, for the first time all the way through. I wish I had done this sooner. Overall, simply put, it’s awesome. Highly melodic, phrasing, key progressions, depth, it’s all really impressive and pretty unbelievable for a first release. After some discussion with the boys at Binary, I’m starting to understand why/how this was possible. I don’t want get into the nitty gritty right now, but let’s just say they tell me he’s well trained in the classical sense. It’s really a shame this album kind of flew under the radar and didn’t get the hype it deserved. Let’s change that.

Keenhouse’s next single Civil Transit is going to be released with Binary. It’s right on the horizon and the remixes + a hype storm are starting to take shape.

Here’s a little taste to get the ball rolling. First up, Anoraak with a reaaaallly dreamy rendition of Civil Transit in full force with the ever so slight reverb on plucky arpeggiators. atmospheric.

Keenhouse – Civic Transit (Anoraak LAX Remix)

And this is a lick off the original EP to whet your appetite, this is the first track and it hits the ground running. Starts out heavily LFO’d and drops into a rhythm reminiscent of french touch. Perfect Keenhouse. Is that a genre yet?

Keenhouse – Deep in The Forest

Buy Keenhouse – Civic Transit on iTunes (you need this album in your life. so amazingly good.)

BONE-US
I heard this track is Keenhouse’s favorite remix of Civil Transit to play out when he DJs…

#READYFORTHEWEEKEND

OHhhhh how I am ready for the weekend. Of course, you should know by now, Calvin Harris‘ latest album has finally been released and it is honestly a hit monster.  It’s not perfect, but the ratio of hits to duds is unbelievable. I was somewhat on the fence about this album when I was first listening, but after some time of letting it settle, we have a winner. What really had me worried was the remix promo that he dropped a month before. I can’t think of one good thing about it!  The Fake Blood remix came close to being good, but only half the track was listenable!

Obviously, what better a cut off of ‘Ready For the Weekend’.

Calvin Harris – Stars Come Out

To finish things off, here’s a little something I received a while back from O’Spada. It is undeniably funk and if you know me, you know I like my funk with a healthy dose of synth and modulation in all the right places. Wait till you get to the bridge -it will send chills down your spine.

REPLY TO ALL SHOUT OUT BLOG MAFIA RIDE OR DIE

Anyway, none of this could have been possible without our special friend, the young Jordan Elliot of The Kids Are RADIOACTIVE [TKAR]. He’s part of the always lovely Binary crew in Los Angeles and one thing is for sure when it comes to Binary- nicest bunch of kids around!

TKAR has a ways to go as far as developing his own niche sound, but what we’ve all heard so far, is very promising. He tiptoes between the lines of electro/techno/dreamwave and we’re dying to find out what comes of all this exploration! The fact that he’s so young and putting out stuff that sounds like this, only leaves the future to be excited about. So while we wait for massive things to happen, sit back and enjoy what he’s doing right now.

First up is the feature track that started the reply to all magic… TKAR’s remix of Ra Ra Riot’s – Can You Tell. Cannot get enough cathedral organ in my life!!

Ra Ra Riot – Can You Tell (The Kids Are Radioactive Remix)

Here’s something I’m really excited about. An original production from TKAR with vocals lent by another LA local, LexiconDon. Be stoked for this one, it’s out on Binary’s compilation album “LA Lights” out October 13!!

The percussion and hand claps…. #ilovehandclaps

The Kids Are RADIOACTIVE – Higher feat. LexiconDon

Just because I’m in the best mood possible today, this is my latest favorite from Team Australia.  It’s the Strip Steve remix of GLOVES – PYX.  SO good.  Paradise. You may recognize it if you tuned into #radiotuftsmania (scroll thru if you want to get the lowdown on what happened last night).  It was the opening track! that modulated key synth solo…and I seem to love anything with acoustic piano?….. love.
