POOL PARTY @ TUFTSMANIA (tracklist in comments)

It’s been obscenely hot in LA and when it’s hot, you have a pool party. One of the requirements of a successful pool party is excellent music.

Who gives a shit about smooth technical mixing when you’re too busy blasting your friend with a Super Soaker 2000 Death Cannon Triple Barrel Lazer Machine Hydromaster?

exactly.

also, big ups to Hacks from Resonator Mag for reminding me about the 80kidz remix of “Knock Out”.

Franki Chan from IHEARTCOMIX also sent this little gem of a mixtape over to me. It has a tracklist that is pretty much all 5-stars in my itunes, so you should check it out.

PS: what’s the deal with hotlinking files? Obviously it’s an easy way to link to a file/mp3/whatever, but it totally kills me these days. I’m not making any money from this website, and when another site (sometimes even sponsored, to remain nameless) hotlinks to the files hosted on this site, I over-run my bandwidth allotment. I have TONS of bandwidth and it is usually pretty hard to do, but once it’s linked outside on other bigger websites, game over. There really aren’t any excuses with the multitudes of free online file hosting (zshare, megaupload, yousendit.)

I could care less about ‘being the first’ to break news on a track,
I could care less about getting credit for ‘being the source’ of a track,
and I could care less about getting a huge reader base.

Getting quality visitors works well enough by word of mouth.

So, other leechy music blogs, let’s show some proper netiquette

I’ve been following Metal on Metal for quite a bit now but it’s been a chore trying to get into contact with them. Luckily, I have good friends in Lithuania hooking me up… you know who you are!

“…We don’t like this new act, called Nicolas Sarkozy though, he talks too much.” -Metal on Metal

Previously known as Nesakyk Mamai! or Don’t tell your Mom, Metal on Metal has been steadily infiltrating the ears of people all over europe. Why the HELL, don’t they get more love over here beats me. I seem to be interested in all the wrong bands??? (hellz no) Their originals and re-works are really something else and lately, they’ve been getting straight up grips of remix work on their plates. Just look at the hit list on their myspace.

I’m sitting on a most recent commissioned remix of Blood Red Shoes, which is a heavy track on its own, but with the MoM touch… fucking insane, no questions asked.

I’ll be over there. Blasting everyone’s brains out with this track. No big deal.

It seriously gets hectic, and I’d have it no other way. What? I can’t hear you, my ears are bleeding.
Blood Red Shoes - I Wish I Was Someone Better (Metal On Metal Remake) *tuftsmania exxxxxclusiveeeeeee <3

Keep checking their myspace for their latest EP, Slaughterhouse, full of original sounds, to be released in the future! You can bet it will be covered here as well.

Answers to the world's questions provided by none other than Lithuania's only, Metal on Metal.

hit the jump to find out what they think about the finer things in life. (you really want to)

the revival

no pictures. this is straight business.

Mix tapes have definitely taken on a new shape over the years.

Making your own mixes was never all that easy until the advent of the modern cassette tape. For years people would use these little magnetic tapes to create their own ‘personal’ mix tapes for themselves, for their friends. When the digital age dropped the compact disc bomb, the cassette tape wasn’t phased for people loved the ease of creating their own playlists.

….until the recordable cd became an affordable option. From then on, people began recording their playlists to this cheaper, fully digital, cold, anti-personal media.

….until the age of the internet, where assholes like tuftsmania began making mixtapes to distribute over the internet in the form of MP3 files, an even colder, and less personal medium.

I’m here to apologize and ask for forgiveness.

Starting in 2 days, Saturday December 8 at 12PM PST (lunchtime), I will open the email account I have created for this very special event.

When the clock strikes 12PM PST, the first 25 people who call the TUFTSMANIA HOTLINE (424) 354-0313, THEN emails giveaway@tuftsmania.com will receive a copy of my holiday of 07 mixtape “Hubbub of 2007″ on CD with limited artwork for EVERY copy! yay hooray. I know you’re excited.

It gets better. The first 5 (FIVE) callers will get a verrryyy limited run (1/5) of the mix tape. ON A 100% PLASTIC AND MAGNETS CASSETTE TAPE. it’s so old that you will have to borrow the stereo in your friend’s 92 ford fiesta to listen to it. You’ll still get the cd as well, but fuck the cd, you can get the real deal mix tape! I again will draw all the artwork with my slave hands for you to ogle at.

I know there are some international (outside of the USA) people that visit this site, and yeah, that’s right YOU can play too. I’ll ship this shit ALL OVER THE WORLD. who needs money anyway (me, but that’s besides the point).

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. at 12PM PST NOON Saturday December 8, call (424) 354-0313. leave your NAME and make sure I can understand it.

2. after leaving your name and message, email giveaway@tuftsmania.com with the same NAME you used in the message.

3. leave your mailing address in the email as well because most likely, if you called and emailed me, you won.

4. i will announce the winners the following Wednesday, so you have all weekend and then some to leave obscene messages. i’ll mail you your prizes as soon as they’re done being made.

game on!!

ps: this is free, and my gift to any and all of the weirdos that view this website. just don’t rip it and send it to the qerio guys. love you all.

what did i ever do

I am completely shitting myself with the onslaught of amazing tracks that have been gracing my ears. The past couple of weeks have been all about new talent, new tracks, and new discoveries. Why did they pick me to listen to these tracks? One may never know, but I’m not going to complain.

i’m such a fag. Enough gushing.

Lately, a certain someone with a name beginning with CH and ending with O has been destroying blogs worldwide. No, not Chromeo.
Germany’s Choreo is back, and he wants to play the 80’s synth banger game.

The syncopated cowbell/hats, the synth, perfect tom fills, the dirty guitar riffs, and what!!???!?!? HAND CLAPS TO FINISH THE BUILD UP INTO THE LAST VERSE!?!?!??? COME ON!!!

Choreo 1, The Game 0.

in all its 320kb/s glory only from TUFTSMANIA…
