#RADIOTUFTSMANIA – I WILL DJ YOUR INTERNET PARTY.
The main idea was for me to have a great time playing music while sharing it with everyone else to enjoy. It wasn’t meant to be widely publicized and I only notified twitter when one was happening. With each show my poor server has been hammered and the limited number streaming slots filled. This made me happy and sad. I realized not THAT many listeners could be reached with my current setup.
The concept is to enjoy the same music at the same time, but with different groups all over the world. How will this be accomplished? People who want to host a #RADIOTUFTSMANIA party will round up a healthy pod of friends to gather for a nice party. Anyone who would like to be a part of this will be given the username and password (or private .m3u file) to access the radio stream. The goal will be to have webcams at each of the parties streaming to stickam or a similar streaming service. We will be able to see each different party enjoying the same music at the same time!
So who wants to host #RADIOTUFTSMANIA in their house/barn/bedroom/bathroom?
Some rules to keep quality high:
- Have a decent sound system. I’m going to be putting out a decent quality stream, and I’d like for the loud music to be heard, not the line noise. Of course, I understand that decent home sound systems aren’t always available so this will be lenient.
- Have a good internet connection. VERY IMPORTANT! Nothing sucks more than a rebuffering stream mid-song.
- Gather a group of friends who you want to enjoy music with. This isn’t meant to be a wild party, but you are free to make whatever you will of it. I’m going to start a
- Interact with me via twitter (hashtag #radiotuftsmania) or ichat to send requests. I don’t always remember all the good songs so I’ll try to integrate any requests. If I don’t have it, I will try to find it or you may be able to send it to me via ichat or email (chris at tuftsmania dot com – ichat/aim/email).
#RADIOTUFTSMANIA can happen any time, but for now, it’s usually happening in the late night Los Angeles time.
This is in its infant stages so any input will be greatly appreciated! I’m really excited about this project because it’s FUN FOR EVERYONE.
