Ric of the UK’s Billion Dollar DJs just passed this mixtape over to me, but it’s not just any average DJ promo mixtape.
This mixtape has quite the interesting concept. All of the tracks on this mixtape had to be downloadable from the artist’s myspace. Sort of a Myspace-music-promo-mixtape.
Ric says,
Tracks were selected regardless of genre and includes electro synths, noisy guitars, French rapping (French rap is always so much cooler…) nu-rave and dirty house and all in all i would say it sounds like a sweaty houseparty.
BRILLIANT idea. I had to do a run-through of this mixtape to make sure it was A+. and yes. it was.

Australia, awesome, sneaky sound system.
I’ve of course blogged about awesome music from Australia many times in the past, as I have also mentioned the amazing Sneaky Sound System a time or two.
In the midst of all the studying I’m doing right now, –I mean, hard partying; I found time to finally post one of my favorite tracks from these handsome, electro loving australians. You may have heard it at the end of my last mixtape (if you allowed it to get that far).

the case of an awesome remix of an awesome song

I often run into the misfortune of hearing a great song, and then hearing a remix of it that’s absolutely horrid. I’m not going to name any names, because that’s not what I’m about (tonight).
This is not one of those situations. The PAM sporting kids Klaxons‘ “As Above, So Below” turned out to be one of my favorite tracks from their album Myths of the Near Future and I was insanely pumped when I found out one of the TUFTSMANIA OGs, Justice, was working on a remix of Klaxons. I wondered what it would be for a long time, but I eventually forgot about it. About a month ago, it dropped somewhat quietly in the blog scene, and I was too busy [with school] to write about it.
Let me tell you now, this is one of my tracks of 2007. Klaxons and Justice, word to your mom?

I am completely shitting myself with the onslaught of amazing tracks that have been gracing my ears. The past couple of weeks have been all about new talent, new tracks, and new discoveries. Why did they pick me to listen to these tracks? One may never know, but I’m not going to complain.

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The second and final in this series is destined to do one and only one thing. To instantly turn any situation into a completely ridiculous, body slamming, bitch slapping, face scratching, DNA mutating, debauchery fest. Sorry, I ran out of freak-out adjectives.
I feel like bouncing at the mere thought of this track. Overall, the track has a very ‘ghetto tech/miami bass’ feel to it, and it works oh so very well. From beginning to end, it keeps the heartrate up and with a tiny little bridge into buildup in the middle gives it a suspenseful changeup in pace. But before you know it, the track beats you down in the face for slowing down and enjoying the sweetness of the melody.
so don’t stop.
