Virgin Megastore went belly up not too long ago. Naturally I was all over that shit like a fly. I originally rolled in expecting to find some awesome ICE AGE + SURF’S UP dvds for cheap as hell, but I didn’t find anything of the sort. Just a bunch of shit Sly Stallone movie sequels. As I was leaving something caught my eye: a blank white 12″ sleeve with grey lightning bolt center label. I knew could only come from one label house and that being DFA. Turned out to be a Panthers remix EP, and I copped that shit like it was peking duck sunday morning. FOR TWO DOLLARS. I also snapped up a Franz & Shape EP which you’ll hear from further down.
Dear Virgin, thanks for failing, so I could get this awesome 12″.
So here’s the Holy Ghost! remix of Goblin City and it is so disco it hurts (so good).
Panthers – Goblin City (Holy Ghost! Disco Dub)
I would have ripped this for you, but I haven’t gotten around to getting an interface for my record player –> computer. who cares, this digital rip sounds better anyway.

I don’t believe I’ve ever posted any Breakbot before and I’m really sorry, I should have (I’m sorry to myself, not you. Sorry Chris). Pure negligence. All you need to know is that Breakbot is japanese magic.
Check out the mangy OOC bassline lead-in. MONEY IN DA BANK.

Franz&Shape – The Man Who Paid Before (Riot in Belgium’s Bedroom Remix)
This was the other record I picked up and all I could find online was a shit quality mp3. what ever happened to the buy a record get the mp3 free?
oh, i’m not going to change the draft title anymore.
Laid back disco is what I’ve been feeling lately. One larger label who probably reps disco the hardest these days is DFA.
I’ve been following a seasonal mixtape series that DFA’s been putting out since ‘05 and they’ve never failed to satisfy.
This one’s Spring 2008, mixed by Justin Miller (for those of you who are wondering, please do not mistake with another j. miller douchebag) and Jacques Renault -the latter of which who brings funk to the EXTREME. (more on him in a sec).
Sit back, lay back: DFA RADIO MIX SPRING 2008 (right click, save as)
Onto Jacques Renault –FUNK OUT OF CONTROL!! I can’t quantitate the level of funk in this track, but it makes me want to do gangster shit. I’d never heard of Jacques before this track, so has anyone got the dirty on this fool? Is this track a fluke? is he legit?
also, don’t forget, re-add my twitter acct. for a sexy time.
