Buffet Libre saved my life

I have more than 1 reason to be thankful for these guys right now. Pizza, double cheeseburgers, spaghetti, delicious… all you can eat in Buffet Libre.
1.
For the past year or so, these guys from Spain have been putting out some of the most tasteful mixtapes I’ve laid ears on (aka the Verbena series). It’s less of the ‘computer mixing trickery’ and more of just straight pure awesome track selection. The mixing is smooth, to the point, and seamless. No tacky trickery here to make up for the mindless process of building your tracklist around what ‘the blogs you follow on hypem‘ post weekly.
2.
Today after my hellish first block of finals, I was looking for some relief and Marc from Buffet Libre was chillin in my mailbox to the rescue. I may not have ever mentioned here, but for the past months, a song has been haunting my memory. Ever since the day I tried to remember the title of it to play at a party. It would NOT come to me. From then on, a day hasn’t passed without me hearing the intro/vocals/rhythm of that mystery song.
That went on for about 3 months………and finally ended today. All thanks to…

Some smarty pants from a website which will remain nameless thought he/she would be cool and decided to BCC everyone instead of CC.
BOOO!!! you can’t kill it!
Message list is still going strong. There have been many a meme. People are even talking about the weather. Watch out twitter, your growing pains will be overtaken by the almighty CC list!
Well, for all those of you who are about to embark on a week of finals that may or may not kill you, here are some compressed audio files that will keep you alive.
After not hearing from Neon Coyote for a while, MOCIAS John hits me back with an amazing update. They’ve added a new player to the pack, Chico Love, and he’s fitting in quite nicely. He’s also a fan of stuffing an insane amount of tracks into a ~20 minute timeframe, so be ready for some nice A.D.D. induced mixing. I’m so down. Track list to die for. makin me bounce as we speaaaaak.

Le Castle Vania is no stranger in the blog scene. I think he has an LA and ATL identity crisis. Maybe the letters are confusing to him. Maybe he’s epileptic AND albino??? Anyway, his albino ass be mixing shit straight from the vampire demon lairs themselves. VERY ENJOYABLE, YES VERY.
Here he is remixing GRUM’s ‘Go Back’. It doesn’t really need any remixing, but the LCV remix makes it explode in the chorus. really. explosion. like huge. in a metal kind of way.

I often run into the misfortune of hearing a great song, and then hearing a remix of it that’s absolutely horrid. I’m not going to name any names, because that’s not what I’m about (tonight).
This is not one of those situations. The PAM sporting kids Klaxons‘ “As Above, So Below” turned out to be one of my favorite tracks from their album Myths of the Near Future and I was insanely pumped when I found out one of the TUFTSMANIA OGs, Justice, was working on a remix of Klaxons. I wondered what it would be for a long time, but I eventually forgot about it. About a month ago, it dropped somewhat quietly in the blog scene, and I was too busy [with school] to write about it.
Let me tell you now, this is one of my tracks of 2007. Klaxons and Justice, word to your mom?
you may recognize the justice track from my halloween party set last week.
here’s the original

Make sure you check out my homie Disaster over at missingtoof who notes the influence of the oldschool doobie brothers in the justice version.
Throwbacks to classic oldies artists are starting to become a staple in Justice’s sound, and I’m down!
just beautiful
