it was about this time last year

It was about this time last year when I was fanboy-izing over the eminent Justice LP release.
Spring brings
Ed Banger flings.
It’s about that time again, and for their 5th year in existence, they’ve decided to put together Ed Rec Vol. III.
Yeah, it’s pretty good. More of the same guys, making some exquisitely new sounding shit and it’s just loveable.
Disco metal champion, Mr. Flash, goes “Over the Top” and it’s, ummmmmm pretty unbelievable/awesome/proper/tally ho.
Get the teaser mixed by Feadz over at missingtoof
When this track first breaks the main rhythm transition into the guitars I get retro metal shivers!!! (chivers?)
Mr. Flash - Over the Top

I rarely get short and sweet fan mail. The messages I usually get are long winded, full of unanswerable questions, and usually end up with me in tears.
…but wait… another message from Elle Estrange??

This was a most unexpected twist…
Elle Estrange, do you have more in your life than blogz?
The latest in Blogville scandals: WHO IS HRO??? WHO IS TUFTSMANIA?????IS HE/SHE/THEY ONE IN THE SAME? DO THEY TRADE BLOGS BI-WEEKLY??? DOES CARLES LEAD A SECRET LIFE?? IS TUFTSMANIA SKITZO??

Catching an early flight out of here this afternoon, so if you want to say ‘hey’, twitter me. While you’re at it, twitter HRO and tell him how much you want to tug him. Then tell him how much you love Shaq.
The new ‘hip’ is being as generic and conform as much as possible. Bland, big in 09… like Ann?
Anywayz, here’s a ‘blurb’ about Chewy Chocolate Cookies remixes.
‘They’re pretty alright’
Make sure you check their latest EP, Pepites, which is out now on ekleroshock.
These tracks actually played in this exact order when I was on my way to get raped by gas prices. They improved this total bummer of a situation by a large margin.
The Toxic Avenger - Superheroes (Chewy Chocolate Cookies remix)
DJ Mehdi - Saharian Break (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)
Justice - Genesis (Chewy Chocolate Cookies rmx)

I often run into the misfortune of hearing a great song, and then hearing a remix of it that’s absolutely horrid. I’m not going to name any names, because that’s not what I’m about (tonight).
This is not one of those situations. The PAM sporting kids Klaxons‘ “As Above, So Below” turned out to be one of my favorite tracks from their album Myths of the Near Future and I was insanely pumped when I found out one of the TUFTSMANIA OGs, Justice, was working on a remix of Klaxons. I wondered what it would be for a long time, but I eventually forgot about it. About a month ago, it dropped somewhat quietly in the blog scene, and I was too busy [with school] to write about it.
Let me tell you now, this is one of my tracks of 2007. Klaxons and Justice, word to your mom?
you may recognize the justice track from my halloween party set last week.
here’s the original
Klaxons - As Above, So Below
and the remix
Klaxons - As Above, So Below (Justice As a Fool, So Believes RMX)
Make sure you check out my homie Disaster over at missingtoof who notes the influence of the oldschool doobie brothers in the justice version.
Throwbacks to classic oldies artists are starting to become a staple in Justice’s sound, and I’m down!
