Luckily my friends at Binary and Nightwaves were eager to help. Feeling like a match made in the dreamwave heavens, a connection was made between Despotz Records‘ own ultra-pop-funk O’Spada and Binary’s Nightwaves. They were given the task to remix/rework/whatever you want to call it O’Spada’s latest single, “Ten Strikes”. After just a short time they were ready to deliver the final product.
The result: TWO amazing renditions of one excellent original track. yew! Taking the original clean-cut/pop-funk groove, Nightwaves, took O’Spada to the land of bongos and reverberating synths. They did what they do best by creating an impossibly dreamy atmosphere and turned this squeaky clean track into a dream of cosmic proportions. TWICE.

O’Spada – Ten Strikes (Nightwaves Midnight Fire Remix) –It starts fairly minimal with skeletal rhythm and stark vocals which gradually builds atmosphere –eventually into a thick pulsing aural beast just before breaking to the amazingly lovely chorus progression. so smooth. a knife through butter, creamy camembert, etc. massaging your auditories.
take note: BONGOS BONGOS BONGOS!!!!

O’Spada – Ten Strikes (Nightwaves’ Sunday Morning Remix) –hand claps, reverb, and FM synths on a sunday morning is the best way to have any morning.
So which one is your favorite? Both? Thought so. No, but really. Let’s hear it.
For those of you who are just joining the mania, O’Spada is AWESOMELY fresh. You can hear what I posted about them a while ago, here.

Last time I heard a (remix) of Noah and the Whale that tickled my fancy was by our boys from Rio, The Twelves. Back is Noah and the Whale with another promo package and this time resident Los Angeles dreamwave champions Nightwaves were called to the task for an official remix.
For those of you who have been following Nightwaves from the beginning, A+ to you, but for those of you who haven’t –this is HUGE. The Nightwaves repertoire of sounds and vibe has grown so much and they recently had a spot on NBC LA for an interview segment about music in LA.
The depth of this remix captures the effortless cinematic effect of an ordinary sun setting over the DTLA skyline. I can’t seem to think of a better way to describe it.
Binary is currently touring the west coast so catch them when they’re in your area!

Some really great stuff is coming out right now and this only gives me hope that ‘10 is gonna be certified insane for new releases. This is a cut of the new EP and also happens to be the first track. sup baby.
