My trusty steed of 4+ years has finally failed me. The backlight or inverter on my 17″ Powerbook finally gave out and I’m left with a gimpy computer through which I cannot see the cyber world. I have finally gotten around to hooking up an external monitor and getting back to my normal daily grind.
This happened just after vacation which would explain the insane delay in content between now and my last post.
Hello everyone, I’m still here.
Lately I’ve been getting down to fat and funky basslines and Lovelock from NY has been kicking out the jams. Word up to Aleks from the discodust for uncovering this gem. (ps: let’s start more mailing lists please)
listen for the awesome synth keyboarding:

Speaking of funky bass lines, Fred Falke has been making his rounds in the blog world lately. This balding, stiff looking french man may be awkward in real life, but he brings the funk. The collaboration of Fred Falke’s fret burning bass skills and Miami Horror’s nostalgic synth stabs is heaven when added to Pnau’s “Embrace”.

Finally what post on this website would be complete without a track by Midnight Juggernauts? Arguably one of my favorite bands in Australia (possibly the world) right now.
Gearing up for their new single release, come a slew of remixes for “Into the Galaxy”. Also a really dope dope dope dope (more dope) video:
It has been established that the “big gay australian circle jerk” phenomenon exists, however, Paris is destined to break the trend. Chateau Marmont (not to be confused with Chateau Marmont –my new residence) added a much needed parisian twist to this track (next next level blog music inbreeding). Anyway, fuck typing all this, just listen.

I just finished sifting through a shit ton of emails, and I’m pleased to say that quite a few things made my ears and eyes happy. Stay tuned.
ps: does anyone out there at Apple want to gift me a macbook pro? I’d really like that.
pps: i heard you can get free and steezy sunglasses that will instantly increase your street cred at glahsez.
be my embrace

Hey, it’s me. Today marks the day where some things stay the same, and some things change. Don’t worry, it won’t be all that bad.
note: this might be a long read for my friends that require prescription medication to concentrate, so pop a couple of adderall, blast some excellent music.
There has been a gi-fucking-gantic steaming mass of responsibilities on my plate for the past couple months; and one by one, they began dropping off like some kind of disease as I started to focus more on the seemingly higher priority tasks. SHLOG and general TUFTSMANIA activity were some of the ones that didn’t make the ‘high priority’ cut.
I didn’t leave it all high and dry however. I still checked my emails, still kept up, still loved the music.
Then sometime mid-December, something interesting began to happen.
I started receiving messages from members of a certain very large corporate lablel trying to promote a certain other ‘DJs’ new album. I’m not going to drop any names.
They began like any other artist telling me about themselves, the music, and etc. Alright, fair enough, but what happens next I was nowhere near prepared for.
this stupid fuck gives me a PRE WRITTEN article and says,
“In exchange for publishing this article on your blog, I am willing to give you xxx amount of SIGNED merchandise (stupid fucking cds! -tuftsmania).”
Ok, now I can’t believe my tiny asian eyes. Did some billion dollar, ass-raping, corporate label just try to BARTER value-less bullshit COMPACT DISCS with me for an article on my site? Don’t get me wrong… I’m not trying to front. I LOVE THE HELL out of free shit, just don’t expect anything back from me in return. I don’t recognize it as a form of currency for business transactions. (chances are I’ll love you if you give me something free, and even blog about it)
I don’t put much value on blog articles that I write for myself, but I do value my integrity as a human being. If some blood sucking business wants my time, I don’t want a bunch of worthless pieces of plastic taking up my space. and for SURE don’t give me a PRE WRITTEN BULLSHIT article to FAKE blog onto my website.
That’s like going to a Michelin Top 10 restaurant and giving the chef your own recipe for his signature dish. NO WAY DOG!! THE PRICE IS WRONG BOBBY!!!
The blog scene is a very, very powerful tool, and corporate america is just now figuring this out (late as usual) and trying to cash in. They’re trying bullish old-world tactics and pretty much failing, with the exception of some other blogs *cough*kidz*cough*colette*.
So, that’s what kind of put me into hibernation mode for a while. I deemed it necessary to take some time off and check out the excellent things the outside world had to offer.
————————
now fast forward:
back, is a renewed, with a tad of healthy anger, chris tuftsmania. <3

TO EMI/SONY/BMG/VIRGIN/RIAA/ETC ETC/YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE:
I hope you’re reading this you corporate pieces of shit. You are dickless pieces of business slime. Keep on trying to catch up.
Independent promotion has already killed you.
Independent Electronic + Vinyl distribution has already killed you.
Music blogs have already killed you.
alright, there may be more of this in the future. I may even post some healthy email conversations.
—————————————————
I don’t leave my friends hanging though… Here’s a recent track posted by the healthy CRLZ at HIPSTERRUNOFF and it’s unbelievably “REC’CD” by us BOTH.
ladyhawke fuck yes!!

PS, TAKE NOTE: I only blog about music that I like. It’s not like I blog every piece of shitty music that reaches my anemic inbox. If I don’t blog anything for a week, It’s not like I stopped getting new music, because I’m always out to find hot music.
PPS: I keep getting emails to upload the holiday 07 mixtape, but I already said, NO CAN DO! You’re gonna have to get it from someone who won it and is willing to upload it for the world to share.
