MSTRKRFT, Soulwax, Midnight Juggernauts… it seems like anything these guys remix has high replay value –even if the original track sucked.
Proof:
Usher – Love in this club (MSTRKRFT ‘picks up the pieces’ remix)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
– The original made me break my speakers –had to go out and purchase new ones in order to listen to the MSTRKRFT remix. The remix made me feel less pissed off at the original version.
LCD Soundsystem – Get Innocuous (Soulwax ‘what they should have done’ remix)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
– The original was minimal, shitty, and it put me to sleep. The Soulwax remix remains along the same vein –except it’s minimal, awesome, and keeps me awake. very important. (i’m really down with minimal, actually. Just not when it sucks.)
***CSS – Left Behind (midnight juggernauts ‘all we have to do is look at it’ remix)***
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
– I have only listened to CSS remixes. I am pretty sure their original tracks don’t even exist.
***the stars mean you should listen to it more than once. many times. and it’s not that shitty transcode that’s been floating around.
This is my challenge: to MSTRKRFT, Soulwax, Midnight Juggernauts, and anyone else….
MAKE KANYE WEST’S LATEST VOCODERED FUCK UP OF A TRACK UN-SUCK. Is this track not salvageable in any way?
I haven’t found one yet. I’ve heard them all up until right now so…. still no. we need some MIDAS-style touching up in here.

Part of the weekend never dies is out….who’s watched it? who’s going to watch it?
Speaking of Soulwax… special douchebags like Erol Alkan get to play out hot items such as MGMT – Kids (Soulwax remix) live, so for those of you who haven’t heard:
also, this teaser is notably less intense than the live-edit of the remix, but at least it’s clean.

Soulwax synth still gives me goosebumps and I ♥ them for it.

Some of my fav. LA locals, Royal Rumble just finished a sweeeeeezy remix of Soulwax – Miserable Girl.
I’ve always enjoyed RR’s edit work, but this is by far my favorite yet. They cut and cut and reloop and cut and cut at all the right spots.
glitch always finds that it has a special place in my heart.
There are a few other remixes in the works, so be on the lookout! Catch the Royal Rumble at very many places in LA this year. if you want specifics, peep the myspace.

Thank god it’s the end of the week and the beginning of a lonnnngg 3 day weekend. (for those of you in the United States)

I just heard a little snippet preview of your favorite Belgiumians Soulwax‘ remix of LCD Soundsystem’s “Get Innocuous” and it’s SOO DISCO ACE!! I’ll post it as soon as I can get my slimy fingers on that wax goodness.
But right now I’m packing for a short little flight up to Sacramento for a nice weekend alas no worrriiiez, daddy tuftsmania is gonna leave you guys with a little some’some.
Here’s a track…. something that you’ll just have to embrace. It’s part of life.
Supermayer, hailing from Germany, really bleeds a Deutsche sound… I don’t know why but it’s very quirky a’la Stereo Total.

Kris Menace is my new hero. I had heard his tracks in the past, but he really blew my mind on the Lumberjack track with Alan Braxe (which I was totally psyched over). And now here we have an awesome remix of the Midnight Juggernauts that fluokids recently dropped on my ass. Bring the electro house!! Also check that fluokids link for more disco than your little pacemaker-aided heart can handle (ladyhawke!!)

Lastly, what do we have here? WTF!PARIS. That’s right, another killer track from fucking parisians. I don’t know what it is, but for some reason, french bands that sing in english just get me hooked. Stuck in Sound aren’t quite electro/techno, but follow more closely along the lines of heavy disco/punk. The pulsating bass line and piercing/stabbing high-overdrive guitars hit it so well in this track. BEASTTTLY FRENCH.
boooyaa.
paris.
(ps: remix? is anybody there?)

Last Friday night was a success. The mezzanine housed Belgium awesomeness, SOULWAX for the second time and it was a welcomed return.
JDH+DAVE P and FRISCO DISCO opened the show and people soon trickled downstairs onto the dancefloor. To really heat things up, they played some sure fire winners: Wolfmother – woman (mstrkrft), cajuan – dance not dance, and the obligatory daft punk toward the end of their set. By now the floor was warm and ready for some love.
Muscles came onto the set and made it rain ice cream. I honestly didn’t come expecting much from him but I was pleasantly surprised. His presence was sincere and the synth keyboard riffs were on point.
His set closed off with a thunder of applause and hollers, and seamlessly into the 2many DJs set. They played my favorite part of the night. I was really too busy going crazy for nitecalls to remember the tracks they mixed up, but it completely blew my mind.
2many DJs ended with the intro riff from KRACK joined with the drummer. I wish I had a set list, but when Soulwax came on, I was FREAKING OUT!!! They finished Krack and the rest was history.
I will let you in on a little secret. Towards the end of the set, they broke into the intro of JUSTICE’S “Let there be Light”. At that point I had shit myself and fainted. Hearing a live rendition of the already amazing b-side that puts the single “Waters of Nazareth” to shame is an unimaginable experience.
YOU HEAR THAT? I said it. Let there be Light > Waters of Nazareth. end of story.
Belgium is the new Australia? I say yes.
now for something you can hear:
not soulwax, not justice, not mstrkrft but:
Sondre Lerche – everyone’s rooting for you
