Right now, Australia is still one of my favorite places putting out TUNES/JAMS/MAGIC.
You’ve already heard it over and over again, and it seems they’re not letting up. Most notably, Bang Gang has been shaking things down. First major change was joining up with Modular last year and since then putting out amazing releases non-stop. Who could ask for more? Here are some lovely cuts from down hunder that I’ve been recently playing out but I’m quite sure very few of these are actually new to you.

What haven’t I said about Knightlife (even before the advent of tagging on tuftsmania)? He may have been my gateway drug into the world of the Australian Tune Factory. (Oxford Art Factory?) Anyway, hopping allllll the way back to the first time I heard Knightlife’s 2007 demo ‘Ambopop’ to now, the magic is still there. I can honestly say the demo is still just as good as it used to be –and his recent stuff is even better. That’s saying something.

Our boy Cassian! He’s one of Bang Gang’s freshest hit-makers and has been on a roll since before the new year! With his recent release of the Friday Night EP, people are just starting to get a taste of what this guy is all about. This remix of Polygon Palace is soooo fresh. Leveraging that delicious reverbed piano synth from the original, Cassian lays his magic disco touch on the whole track with finesse –bringing in a solid tambourine / hand clap track as well! sooo much vibe happening!
This track was actually supposed to be released under the CSK OK name, but somehow that was lost in translation. So here I present you –a properly tagged file! yew!

Polygon Palace – Tokyo Getaway (Cassian Remix) (CSK OK Remix)
Remember that fresh remix of Daft Punk ‘Around the World’ with the live guitar action? Yeah, none other than Nicky Van She and Dangerous Dan! This is Dangerous Dan’s newest solo release and it’s…SOFRESH!! It’s his rendition of the classic ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’ and the break where it cuts to an original version of the song is OMIGOD awesome. I’m not sure which version of Ritz it’s from as there are quite a few renditions. I’ve only heard the Benny Goodman version and it’s pretty different.

I haven’t heard of any other Dangerous Dan solo releases prior to this one –anyone know if he’s got any other originals?
This isn’t quite Australian, but Hercules & Love Affair (amazing) made a splendid remix of Cut Copy’s Far Away (amazing). Mathematically that would be amazing^2, right? I mean, even if one were not amazing, it would still be amazing… mathematically. This holds true to the remixing world.

Euphorie takes me back to a better time in blog land. A time in 2004, before the mania, when I just heard Justice remix We Are Your Friends, before Uffie changed her name to Ke$ha, when Hipsterrunoff was probably still getting his Business degree somewhere in Texas or NOLA, when techno was ‘gay’.

That dirty, dirty bass synth, that pounding kick… I was listening to old Bach records tonight and really got in the mood for baroque harpsichords (my own obligatory addition of trombones and tambourines). Euphorie read my mind and delivered a platter full of filthy harpsichord synth arpeggios.
We really need to revisit the tuftsmania classics.

I had a post in the works featuring some of Siriusmo’s last year stuff (Diskoding era). That will be pushed back approximately one post day (could we days, weeks, months, years). This is because of a very important item a Chris who will remain anonymous sent me during a club ichat meeting.
I’m not sure where it’s from, but it sounds like some of his older stuff (2007, pre-diskoding?). Anyone know? (I know it came out on a 2 track split with Harry Axt pretty recently (Grand Petrol – GP23), but the track itself is a definite re-release. Possibly going to be a single?)
It’s PERFECTION. don’t remix this, if you do, do it right and keep the crawling octave progression.

First of all let’s get into something that’s been owning my itunes/car/everything for the past couple weeks. Passion Pit’s latest album has been pretty sugary good to me, but the real gem here is Calvin Harris’ remix of ‘The Reeling’. He pulls the one synth I wanted to hear more of and turns it into a disco-harris-moment. Can you believe the bass on this one? Money.

Here we go. Got this bad boy from Linus Loves a short while back after some weird email attachment issues. It’s a remix of Pixie Lott’s ‘Mama Do’ and………yep….we’re getting DEEEEEP. So deep in fact we need to adjust the pressure regulators for this.

Pixie Lott – Mama Do (Linus Loves Radio edit Remix)
Lastly, the Phoenix remixes have been coming through pretty much nonstop but I have to admit I haven’t been impressed. Is it because they make the vocals sound so ridiculously awkward? Maybe.
Someone prove me wrong, but this remix of Phoenix by Classixx is getting DEEEEEP like, fully. Kind of makes it a big deal. Here’s in my opinion, the best of the bunch. Somewhat getting Aeroplane vibes from the intro. agree? (check link to compare)

Hello mon amis~
I have the best and worst memory ever. It fails every time I need to recall something very necessary, remembers the most minute details of things that would never be of importance and most definitely always forgets the ugly girls.
In a story similar to last time’s shenanigans, I was trying to figure out the name of a track that had been haunting me. Instead of letting it nag at me for months, I decided to call upon the powers of the iChat. Please refer to link up there or click here for the scoop.
