Here come some more summer pool party jams. This isn’t to say that these tunes are limited to day time pool thrashes. They’ll kill it in any setting, but well, you know. POOL PARTY MANIA 2009!!
TEPR. Well what can I say? Magic man. He’s part of Yelle’s (bless your hearts) outfit and produces some of the most fun sounds around. His rework of “A Cause des Garçons” ring any bells? Remind yourself.
He’s remixed kap10kurt’s ‘Dangerseekers’ and now here’s another TEPR remix of kap10kurt, ‘Mission Complete’. With this remix, TEPR brightened up the drums and synths considerably. It starts with a vocal sample loop for a few bars and builds up into the main rhythm with an ever classic 90’s multiplied vocal “aaAAAWWWW”. Just when you think it’s done, you’re judo chopped with a chime and a whistle straight into the chorus. That’s how you start a fucking chorus my friends. With a chime and a whistle. supreme fun time.
Does anyone like the Friendly Fires? Um…yes. me. Although that and the upcoming posting on my website reference remixes, they as an original entity are amazing. Their video of ‘Paris’, was on TUMBLMANIA, so, obv…
Here’s Grum’s pool-party-ready rendition of ‘Skeleton Boy’, and boy does it pick up around 2:27. Grum’s keyboards = love, and can you say arpeggiators and vocoders?? YES?????
Friendly Fires – Skeleton Boy (Grum Remix)
Grum just released a new single, ‘Sound Reaction’ on beatport. A lot of the elitist blog world says the sound is passé, but fuck it! That track is money in the bank.
Yelle trivia. Did you know that Yelle is actually an acronym? Here’s a revisit to Yelle – ACDG (TEPR Remix)……… love you all.
Alright, fine, here’s Grum’s ‘Sound Reaction’. Play it really loud –and how good is that delicious keyboard/bassline? –you can thank me later.
GRUM – Sound Reaction (original mix)
I got this e-mail last week stating it would debut on perezhilton last friday. After a weekend hiatus, I decided to try to find the premiere material to no avail.
So here you have it friends, YELLE’s new video, “Ce Jeu”, is officially premiering right here and now on TUFTSMANIA.
this is the most official official release ever, officially.
While my friend Andrew is blogging about Judd Apatow’s newest viral marketing scheme, which is quite successful to an extent, I’m going to blog about a recent viral e-mail marketing attempt…
Which in my opinion, failed miserably.
Initially I’m thinking, sweet, a new leak. Then I proceed to click the link to listen. Whatever smile I had on my face was reduced to a neutral stare. “this can in no fucking way be Justice” is what tell myself. So I put that message aside for a few days.
This morning I woke up to my blackberry blinking red. I got another email from the same person who ‘forwarded’ me that message from sarah colette (more on that later).
The truth comes out. Someone came up with the bright idea…
“HEY, LET’S BUILD SOME HYPE FOR YOU BY TRYING TO PASS OURSELVES OFF AS JUSTICE….AND THEN TELL EVERYONE THE TRUTH AFTER THEY ARE TOTALLY INTO IT!!!!”
rule 1 to successfully faking a Justice track and then telling the truth after people are into it: MAKE FUCKING SURE I’m “totally into it”.
What I heard when listening to this track were unimpressive muted/muffled synths, samples from other justice tracks, and ‘church organ sounds’.
Let it be known, this track was in no way a BAD track, I’m just tired of people trying to be deceptive. Had this been a regular email trying to promote someone, I might have given it a better chance.
Rule 2: let’s leave sarah from colette out of it? what did she ever do to you? why would you want to eff up her name by associating it with yourselves??? why would she of all people leak a WRONG-FAKE justice track??
Rule 3: lie better.
St. Andrew is no joke. You’ve all heard his winning remix of Yelle’s ‘Ce Jeu’. I would have been far more stoked on the track had it been called “st. andrew’s new track” from the start.
This is not a post about St. Andrew. or is it?
keep sending me fakes. because i love them.
The way these guys cut/slice/rip up vocals, rhythms, and re-dub tracks is reallllly appealing to me. It’s probably just the fact that they lay a dirty, synthy, stuttery guitar sound over all their tracks. (read: vst, bag raiders, knightlife etc etc) –but I couldn’t care less.
–And I’m not complaining.
GIVE US MORE. <3
I’m going to quote/paraphrase/borrow what CRLZZZ from hipsterrunoff said about Yelle – Ce Jeu: (ok, full quote)
“Ce Jeu” Remixes are the new “Drugs In My Body” Remixes are the new “D.A.N.C.E” Remixes are the new ______ remixes, etc etc.
INAHALE THIS MY FRIENDS!!
Yelle – Ce Jeu (slaughtered by the videoband rmx)
Up next, Rihanna – Umbrella. Now, from the day this original track was conceived I avoided it like the plague due to my hatred of everything that leaves this girl’s whorish mouth. I was surprised by a remix I heard of it on my boy CITS‘ website (rest in pieces, cits the music blog), and I told myself that remixes of Rihanna could be acceptable.
PRIME EXAMPLE: Videoband thankfully throws some more layers over her god-awful voice. Paper bagging it so to speak.
Thanks, Videoband, for making abominations like these more palatable, and making hipster children believe Rihanna could be cool.
